Pubbakammapilotika-Buddhāpadānaṁ

[3. Abbhakkhānaṁ]

Tatiyapañhe, abbhakkhānan-ti abhi akkhānaṁ akkosanaṁ.

Atīte kira Bodhisatto apākaṭajātiyaṁ, uppanno Munāḷi SHB, PTS: Munāli here; PTS Munāḷi elsewhere.1 nāma dhutto hutvā, dujjanasaṁsaggabalena Surabhiṁ SHB, PTS: Surabhi; nominative, where an accusative is needed.2 nāma Paccekabuddhaṁ: “Dussīlo pāpadhammo ayaṁ bhikkhū” ti akkosi.

So tena akusalena vacīkammena, bahūni vassasahassāni Niraye paccitvā, SHB, PTS: pacitvā; active form, as though he was boiling something, rather than being boiled.3 imasmiṁ pacchimattabhāve, dasapāramitāsaṁsiddhibalena, Buddho jāto, lābhaggayasaggappatto ahosi.

Puna titthiyā ussāhajātā: “Kathaṁ nu kho samaṇassa Gotamassa ayasaṁ uppādessāmā?” ti dukkhī dummanā nisīdiṁsu.

Tadā Sundarī nāmekā, paribbājikā te upasaṅkamitvā vanditvā ṭhitā, tuṇhībhūte SHB: te tuṇhībhūte.4 kiñci avadante disvā, SHB omits: disvā.5 “Kiṁ mayhaṁ doso” ti pucchi.

“Samaṇena Gotamena SHB, PTS: Samaṇo Gotamo; the ascetic Gotama (harasses us).6 amhe viheṭhiyamāne PTS: viheṭhayamāne; perhaps an alternative form.7 tvaṁ appossukkā viharissasi, idaṁ tava doso.” ti

“Evam-ahaṁ tattha SHB, PTS read: ...karissāmī ti evam-āha. Tattha...8 kiṁ karissāmī?” ti

“Tvaṁ samaṇassa Gotamassa avaṇṇaṁ uppādetuṁ sakkhissasī?” ti

“Sakkhissāmi, ayyā” ti vatvā, tato paṭṭhāya vuttanayena diṭṭhadiṭṭhānaṁ “Samaṇena Gotamena ekagandhakuṭiyaṁ sayitvā nikkhantā” ti vatvā, akkosati paribhāsati.

Titthiyā pi: “Passatha, bho, samaṇassa Gotamassa kamman!”-ti akkosanti paribhāsanti.

Munāḷi nāmahaṁ dhutto pubbe aññāya jātiyā, ChS, Thai: aññāsu jātisu; apparently taking jāti as a masculine noun.10
