4-6: Piṇḍolasuttaṁ (36)

1. evaṁ me sutaṁ:
ekaṁ samayaṁ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṁ viharati, jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. tena kho pana samayena āyasmā piṇḍolabhāradvājo bhagavato avidūre nisinno hoti, pallaṅkaṁ ābhujitvā, ujuṁ kāyaṁ paṇidhāya, āraññiko BJT note: āraññako - palm leaf book.01 piṇḍapātiko paṁsukūliko tecīvariko, appiccho santuṭṭho pavivitto asaṁsaṭṭho āraddhaviriyo dhutavādo adhicittam-anuyutto.

2. addasā kho bhagavā āyasmantaṁ piṇḍolabhāradvājaṁ avidūre nisinnaṁ, pallaṅkaṁ ābhujitvā, ujuṁ kāyaṁ paṇidhāya, āraññikaṁ piṇḍapātikaṁ paṁsukūlikaṁ tecīvarikaṁ, appicchaṁ santuṭṭhaṁ pavivittaṁ asaṁsaṭṭhaṁ āraddhaviriyaṁ dhutavādaṁ adhicittam-anuyuttaṁ.

3. atha kho bhagavā etam-atthaṁ viditvā, tāyaṁ velāyaṁ imaṁ udānaṁ udānesi:

“anūpavādo anūpaghāto, ~ pātimokkhe ca saṁvaro, Metre: In this line we need to read anu- in both words, and count the syllables as resolved the metre to be correct.02
