kappasatasahassassa The opening of this line is faulty metrically, having 2 light syllables in 2nd and 3rd positions, which is normally avoided.01 catunnañ Rouse, Tilakasiri: catunnaṁ.02-cāpi matthake

vicittāpaṇasaṅkiṇṇaṁ Rouse: saṁkiṇṇaṁ. Rouse is very inconsistent in writing the nasal before the gutturals. Here I have preferred to follow Duroiselle's edition, which at least has the value of consistency. No further note will be made of this.05 toraṇagghikabhūsitaṁ [9]

saṁvegam-upayāto va Tilakasiri: upayātova; Tilakasiri always takes these forms as eva or iva, as shown in the Vyākhyā, however a by-form va exists as a separate word in Pāḷi. See PED va02 & va03. This difference will be not be noted again.10 cintesī ti Vimalavaṁsa: cīmantesī 'ti (sic); Tilakasiri: cintesīti; Vimalavaṁsa always writes the quotation marker as though it were iti with elision. Tilakasiri always writes these forms with the quotation marker as though they were in sandhi. However the lengthening of the preceeding vowel is not a matter of elision or sandhi, but of emphasis or convention.11 guṇākaro

dehe dose udikkhanto ovadanto pi Vimalavaṁsa: ovadanto 'pi; Tilakasiri: ovadantopi; as with the above Vimalavaṁsa takes these forms as elision, and Tilakasiri as sandhi. However pi exists as an enclitic form in Pāḷi. See PED pi. This difference will be not be noted again.12 attano [16]
