Ja 94: Lomahaṁsajātakavaṇṇanā

Sotatto sosinno cevā ti idaṁ satthā vesāliṁ upanissāya pāṭikārāme viharanto sunakkhattaṁ ārabbha kathesi. Ekasmiñhi samaye sunakkhatto satthu upaṭṭhāko hutvā pattacīvaramādāya vicaramāno korakkhattiyassa dhammaṁ rocento dasabalassa pattacīvaraṁ niyyādetvā korakkhattiyaṁ nissāya vasati. Tassa kālakañjikaasurayoniyaṁ nibbattakāle gihi hutvā: “Natthi samaṇassa gotamassa uttari manussadhammā alamariyañāṇadassanaviseso, takkapariyāhataṁ samaṇo gotamo dhammaṁ deseti vīmaṁsānucaritaṁ sayaṁpaṭibhānaṁ. Yassa ca khvāssa atthāya dhammo desito, na so niyyāti takkarassa sammā dukkhakkhayāyā” ti (MN. 1.146) vesāliyaṁ tiṇṇaṁ pākārānaṁ antare vicaranto satthu avaṇṇaṁ bhāsati.

Athāyasmā sāriputto piṇḍāya caranto tassevaṁ avaṇṇaṁ bhāsantassa sutvā piṇḍapātapaṭikkanto tamatthaṁ bhagavato ārocesi. Bhagavā: “Kodhano, sāriputta, sunakkhatto moghapuriso, kodhavasenevamāha, kodhavasenā pi pana ‘na so niyyāti takkarassa sammā dukkhakkhayāyā’ ti vadanto ajānitvā pi mayhaṁ guṇam-eva bhāsati. Na kho pana so moghapuriso mayhaṁ guṇaṁ {1.390} jānāti. Mayhañhi, sāriputta, cha abhiññā nāma atthi, ayam-pi me uttarimanussadhammo va. Dasabalañāṇāni atthi, catuvesārajjañāṇaṁ atthi, catuyoniparicchedakañāṇaṁ atthi, pañcagatiparicchedakañāṇaṁ atthi, ayam-pi me uttarimanussadhammo va. Evaṁ uttarimanussadhammasamannāgataṁ pana maṁ yo evaṁ vadeyya ‘natthi samaṇassa gotamassa uttarimanussadhammo’ ti, so taṁ vācaṁ appahāya taṁ cittaṁ appahāya taṁ diṭṭhiṁ appaṭinissajjitvā yathābhataṁ nikkhitto evaṁ niraye” ti evaṁ attano vijjamānaṁ uttarimanussadhammassa guṇaṁ kathetvā: “Sunakkhatto kira, sāriputta, korakkhattiyassa dukkarakārikāya micchātape pasanno, micchātape pasīdantena pana mayi eva pasīdituṁ vaṭṭati. Ahañhi ito ekanavutikappamatthake ‘atthi nu kho ettha sāro’ ti bāhirakaṁ micchātapaṁ vīmaṁsanto caturaṅgasamannāgataṁ brahmacariyavāsaṁ vasiṁ, tapassī sudaṁ homi paramatapassī, lūkho sudaṁ homi paramalūkho, jegucchī sudaṁ homi paramajegucchī, pavivitto sudaṁ homi paramapavivitto” ti vatvā therena yācito atītaṁ āhari.

Atīte ekanavutikappamatthake bodhisatto: “Bāhirakatapaṁ vīmaṁsissāmī” ti ājīvakapabbajjaṁ pabbajitvā acelako ahosi rajojalliko, pavivitto ahosi ekavihārī. Manusse disvā migo viya palāyi, mahāvikatibhojano ahosi, vacchakagomayādīni paribhuñji, appamādavihāratthāya araññe ekasmiṁ bhiṁsanake vanasaṇḍe vihāsi. Tasmim-pi viharanto himapātasamaye antaraṭṭhake rattiṁ vanasaṇḍā nikkhamitvā abbhokāse viharitvā sūriye uggate vanasaṇḍaṁ pavisati. So yathā rattiṁ abbhokāse himodakena tinto, tatheva divā vanasaṇḍato paggharantehi udakabindūhi temayi. Evaṁ ahorattaṁ sītadukkhaṁ anubhoti. Gimhānaṁ pana pacchime māse divā abbhokāse viharitvā rattiṁ vanasaṇḍaṁ pavisati. So yathā divā abbhokāse ātapena pariḷāhappatto, tatheva rattiṁ nivāte vanasaṇḍe pariḷāhaṁ pāpuṇāti, sarīrā sedadhārā muccanti. Athassa pubbe assutapubbā ayaṁ gāthā paṭibhāsi:

1. Sotatto sosinno ceva, eko bhiṁsanake vane,
Naggo na caggimāsīno, esanāpasuto munī ti.

Tattha {1.391} sotatto ti sūriyasantāpena suṭṭhu tatto. Sosinno ti himodakena susinno suṭṭhu tinto. Eko bhiṁsanake vane ti yattha paviṭṭhānaṁ yebhuyyena lomāni haṁsanti, tathārūpe bhiṁsanakevanasaṇḍe eko adutiyo va ahosinti dīpeti. Naggo na caggimāsīno ti naggo ca na ca aggimāsīno. Tathā sītena pīḷiyamāno pi neva nivāsanapārupanaṁ vā ādiyiṁ, na ca aggiṁ āgamma nisīdinti dīpeti. Esanāpasuto ti abrahmacariye pi tasmiṁ brahmacariyasaññī hutvā: “Brahmacariyamevetaṁ esanā gavesanā upāyo brahmalokassā” ti evaṁ tāya brahmacariyesanāya pasuto anuyutto ussukkaṁ āpanno ahosinti dasseti. Munīti: “Muni kho esa monatthāya paṭipanno” ti evaṁ lokena sambhāvito ahosinti dīpeti.

Evaṁ caturaṅgasamannāgataṁ brahmacariyaṁ caritvā bodhisatto maraṇakāle upaṭṭhitaṁ nirayanimittaṁ disvā: “Idaṁ vatasamādānaṁ niratthakan”-ti ñatvā taṅkhaṇaññeva taṁ laddhiṁ bhinditvā sammādiṭṭhiṁ gahetvā devaloke nibbatti.

Satthā imaṁ dhammadesanaṁ āharitvā jātakaṁ samodhānesi: “ahaṁ tena samayena so ājīvako ahosin”-ti.
