1. Tilakkhaṇā

1. Rūpaṁ, bhikkhave, aniccaṁ,
2. yad-aniccaṁ taṁ dukkhaṁ,
3. yaṁ dukkhaṁ tad-anattā. The three characteristics here are shown against the five components of mind and body, for the latter see section 4 below. This playing out of one set of factors against another is a characteristic of the discourse style.

Yad-anattā taṁ: Netaṁ mama, nesoham-asmi, na meso attā ti, evam-etaṁ yathābhūtaṁ sammappaññāya daṭṭhabbaṁ. Evam-etaṁ yathābhūtaṁ sammappaññāya passato cittaṁ virajjati, vimuccati anupādāya āsavehi.

1. Vedanā aniccā,
2. yad-aniccaṁ taṁ dukkhaṁ,
3. yaṁ dukkhaṁ tad-anattā.

Yad-anattā taṁ: Netaṁ mama, nesoham-asmi, na meso attā ti, evam-etaṁ yathābhūtaṁ sammappaññāya daṭṭhabbaṁ. Evam-etaṁ yathābhūtaṁ sammappaññāya passato cittaṁ virajjati, vimuccati anupādāya āsavehi.

Rūpadhātuyā ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno cittaṁ virattaṁ, vimuttaṁ hoti anupādāya āsavehi.

Vedanādhātuyā ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno cittaṁ virattaṁ, vimuttaṁ hoti anupādāya āsavehi.

Saññādhātuyā ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno cittaṁ virattaṁ, vimuttaṁ hoti anupādāya āsavehi.

Saṅkhāradhātuyā ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno cittaṁ virattaṁ, vimuttaṁ hoti anupādāya āsavehi.

Viññāṇadhātuyā ce, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno cittaṁ virattaṁ, vimuttaṁ hoti anupādāya āsavehi.

Vimuttattā ṭhitaṁ, ṭhitattā santusitaṁ, santusitattā na paritassati, aparitassaṁ paccattañ-ñeva parinibbāyati.

Khīṇā jāti,
vusitaṁ brahmacariyaṁ,
kataṁ karaṇīyaṁ,
nāparaṁ itthattāyā ti pajānātī ti.
